TWIN RINKS ADULT HOCKEY SUBS SYSTEM INFO
Go online and log in at the Adult
Hockey Login Screen (the big pink box at the top left of the screen)
The first time you log in, use your email and leave the password blank.
(That means don't put anything in the field)
You will then need to set up your profile.
Section 1: Setting up your profile
Enter in a password. It can be anything. It can be any length.
It can contain any characters.
Enter what position you prefer to play. This is used during the draft by
the captains, and each day the captains receive an email with their
current roster and subs. They will then try to set up lines based on the
subs preferred position.
Enter your cell phone and carrier. It is very important that the system
know your cell phone. You will only have 6 hours to confirm your subs
games.
If you don't check your email every 6 hours (including the weekends) you will
miss you sub game invitation. Please set up
your cell phone number.
Enter the amount of time you would like the system to send you a text message
reminder. Many players want a reminder 1 our 2 hours before their games.
My friend Peter missed our game because he fell asleep on the couch. If
you don't want a text message reminder set all boxes to zero.
Enter the amount of time you would like the system to send you an email reminder
before your games. Many players want a reminder 24 hours before their
games, some want it 8 hours before your games. If you don't want an email
reminder set it to all zeros.
Enter "How long do you need to be notified before you can sub?". The
computer uses this when it picks subs. If you put 24 hours, the system
will not pick you if it is after 24 hours before the game. If you want to
sub more, make this time as short as possible. Players who sub a lot set
it to 30 minutes.
Check the "Send a test text message" box to get a test sent. This is a
good idea the first time to make sure it works.
Check the "Send a test email message" box to get a test sent. This is a
good idea the first time to make sure it works.
Click Submit. The system is working on a "batch" method. Every 5
minutes our Unix computer checks the internet to see if there are any new
adult hockey changes. It can take up to 5 minutes for your changes to show
up on the internet. Be patient.
If you forget your password, email esubs and I will reset it for you.
After it is reset you will need to leave the password blank the next time you
log in.
Section 2: YOUR GAMES
The top will show the games you are playing in. Mark IN or OUT to tell the
computer if you will be at the game.
If you don't know, mark IN you can always change it to OUT later.
If you mark OUT a few hours before your game, your team will be playing short
handed.
The computer will begin bugging you with emails and text messages 7 days before
your game to mark IN or OUT.
2 days before your game (Monday at 9am for Wednesday games) the computer will
begin looking for subs. At that time all players who have marked OUT will
have the status changed to "You are not available" and subs will be found to
bring the number of players up to 10. If your status is "You are not
available" and your plans change and you can make the game, email esubs and I
will let the computer know you will be at the game. If a sub or player
marks OUT you will play with 10, else you will play with 11.
Section 3: GAMES YOU CAN SUB IN
(If you are a currently rostered player, it is FREE
to sub in a game)
To sub in a game, mark "I can sub" next to the games you want to play in.
2 days before the game (Sunday at 9am for Tuesday games) the computer will begin
looking for subs.
The computer knows the average rating of all players who will not be at the
game.
The computer knows the standings of the teams.
The computer gives captains priority in subbing.
The computer then looks for a
player who can sub based on the rating it is looking for.
The Player with the least CLICKS will be selected.
You get 1 CLICK when you are selected to sub.
You get 1 CLICK if you click NO to the sub game you were selected to play in.
You get 5 CLICKS if you no show the game.
Clicks are reset each season.
Captains must keep their clicks to 1 per week or they will forfeit their priority for the rest of the season, but they can continue to sub.
If you are picked it will send you an email and a text message. It is very
important that you set up your cell phone in your profile so it can send text
messages.
You normally have 6 hours to go online and confirm your sub game. The "I
can sub" will now be yellow and have an IN and OUT box for you to check.
If you don't respond in 3 hours, another email and text message will be sent.
If you don't respond, you will get a notification that you did
not respond in time, and don't go to the game. The sub game status will
change to "You are not available". If you didn't confirm in time and still
want to sub in the game, email esubs and I will change your status back to "I
can sub". If more subs are needed the computer will pick you again.
Once you confirm your game, your
name will be on the sign in sheet as a sub when you get to the game.
If your plans change and you can't make the game, go online and mark OUT, and
the system will find another sub.
Day of game the computer gives you less than 6 hours to respond.
Playing twice in a day:
After you are picked to sub the computer will remove any other games that
day which conflict with the game you are picked for.
It then changes your priority on other games to the lowest, so the system will
use players not yet playing before it picks players to play twice.
If you don't want to play twice, after you have been picked, uncheck the "I can
sub" box for the other games.
If you want to sub more,
check more "I can sub" boxes and change your profile to shorten the "How long do
you need to be notified before you can sub?"
If you have listed you need 24 hours, the system will not be able to pick you
any time on Tuesday for a Tuesday game.
Players who sub a lot have 30 minutes in the time they need.
When the computer can't find any
subs, it sends an email asking for subs to all players and some players from the
league below this one.
